LIFE IN OUR HOUSE
This page is all about our house, which we purchased in Buffalo in 2005 for a steal! It's still not completely furnished, and the garden and yard need work, but, hey, we got time!
NEW! We have finished our super-cool new cabinet! Ever since we moved in, I've hated that fake fireplace, but now we have a fabulous new built-in that better utilizes the space and provides containment for our tv, appletv, and XBox 360, plus our games and DVDs. Yay!!
My father and Pete built the cabinet over the summer and installed it just this past week. It took a while to finish because midway through the project my dad suffered an accident where he ended up losing a few finger tips to a table saw. This cabinet literally had blood, sweat, and tears put into it!
We trasferred the cabinet to our house last week, then I got to work on it! We found a matching stain to bring the finish as close as possible to the already-existing woodwork in the room, so it looks like it had been there forever!!

We're currently working toward getting new bedroom furniture (three dressers and one night stand, I think that should do it) but it'll take a bit of time because we must save up tons of $$$ to get the pieces we want. In the meantime, I did get a couple of new lamps for the dining room and a bunch of new lampshades!
I also framed a bunch of pulp fiction posters to hang in the stairway and hall. My favorites are shown below.
Since finishing school, I did a lot of painting, too. I repainted the dining room and living room walls because they got sooty from a burning candle (and I loused up the initial cleanup!); at the same time, I repainted the ceilings in those rooms in more complementary colors. I also repainted the bathroom. Before, it was white. Now, it's Vermont Cream! Which is also white...however, it now has the most subtle green undertone that really pulls the room together nicely. I didn't bother to take pictures of painted walls, that's silly! The differences really are subtle, but in real life, they make a big difference!
